A British car enthusiast, Rob Case-Green, and his friend Richard Catchpole stumbled upon a hidden treasure while cycling through a Surrey forest. They discovered a collection of classic European cars, some dating back to the 1960s, abandoned on a grassy knoll. Instead of passing by, Case-Green decided to explore further, using Google Maps to uncover the history of this unexpected car graveyard.
The cars, including a silver Peugeot 505 sedan from the 1980s and a green Peugeot 404 or 504 from the 1960s, had been left to rust in peace. However, Case-Green's interest was piqued by a particular vehicle - a red Volvo 240 estate wagon from the 1970s to 1990s. This discovery sparked a conversation about the love of classic cars, as Case-Green, a retro car enthusiast, shared his passion with his daughter, Josie, who owns a white Volvo 240 station wagon.
Using Google Maps, Case-Green virtually retraced his and his friend's route, confirming the location's history. The car graveyard, as seen in Google Street View, emerged in 2019, previously appearing as a dense forest. This discovery highlights the unexpected treasures that can be found in everyday places, and the importance of exploring beyond the surface to uncover hidden stories.
